Volunteer Appreciation Dinner
We really value our Ranken Jordan Volunteers. We would not accomplish nearly as much without them. Volunteering means playing with children, rocking babies to sleep and helping children learn and play. But that’s not all! Our Volunteers help with everything. From the necessary (filing) to the downright scary (cleaning out the employee-lounge fridge!) our Volunteers show their commitment daily to the hospital, children and families who stay with us. That’s why Ranken Jordan holds an annual appreciation event.
We held our Volunteer Appreciation Event on Friday, April 24, and recognized all their hard work. This year's theme was "Thanks For Stepping Up To The Plate" because each of our Volunteers plays an active role on our team. The party was Baseball themed and we had a ball of a time!
The Recipients
Every year we recognize the Volunteers for various levels of service. This year we called the Volunteer of the Year the “MVP” and we also gave out a Rookie Volunteer Award. These awards are given to those who show exemplary commitment and dedication to the children. Marci Zimmerman and her dog Bentley were nominated for the “MVP” Award and Holly Hesemann for the “Rookie” Award. They both go above and beyond the call of duty and are both extraordinary people. Congratulations to them both. Read more about our Volunteer of the Year.
In the picture below, C.E.O. Lauri Tanner and Volunteer Margie present a check for $404,000. That amount represents the actual gift of service the volunteers provided to Ranken Jordan in dollars from April of 2008 to April of 2009.
