At our annual Volunteer Appreciation Event we select one Volunteer that shows an extreme level of commitment and dedication to Ranken Jordan and the children that come to us for help. This special Volunteer is voted on behalf of the staff and Volunteers of Ranken Jordan.
This year's winner is Patsy Williams! Patsy goes the extra mile always giving of her time, dedication, and heart each day she is here. She is truly a mover and a shaker! She is always willing to do anything asked of her even cleaning out the Dierberg’s Kitchen refrigerator. Sometimes you never know what you will find in there.
Patsy has volunteered at Ranken Jordan for 3 years and put in a total of 1,120 hours. She rocks babies and plays with toddlers on Tuesdays. You may even find her out by the aquarium, which truly displays “beyond the bedside care.” On Thursdays she can be found in Dierbergs Kitchen getting supplies ready for cooking with the patients. She takes the time to organize the kitchen, go through the cabinets to throw out anything expired and set up what the kids will need to cook for that day’s meal--always considering what each patient will need to get the job done. Without her cooking would never run as smoothly, nor would the clean up. Patsy has always assured us clean up is her job. She probably would even clean windows if we asked her to.
Patsy knows all the kids names and makes sure to say “Hi” to them each morning when she arrives. Patsy has a great smile. She participates in the Initiative for Pediatric Palliative Care committee that works to provide comprehensive integrated care at Ranken Jordan and beyond into the community. Patsy is a valued volunteer and we consider her a friend that gives so much to the patients, families, and staff at Ranken Jordan. She touches each person’s life without even knowing it. We do not know what we would do without her.
