Marci, 3,690 volunteer hours
|
At our annual Volunteer Appreciation Dinner we select one Volunteer who shows an extraordinary level of commitment and dedication to Ranken Jordan and the children who come to us for help. This special volunteer is voted on by the staff and volunteers of Ranken Jordan. This year's winners are Marci Zimmerman and Bentley. From the first day Marci and Goldie volunteered to today, they help a lot with recreational therapy. And not just 1 day a week, but 5 or 6 days a week! Marci keeps us all on track and on schedule. She assists with day treatment schedules, homework and downtime. She even memorizes the Day Treatment patient schedules so we know where they are or should be.
They also help with the Community Program and assists with Junior Board events and the Crystal Ball. Marci is an advocate for the patients here. She has developed many relationships over the years with and long after discharge, those friendships continue to make a positive impact on patients’ lives.
Marci is a resource for the staff and the volunteers. She is knowledgeable about the recreational therapy department and the patients. Marci even gives tours of the hospital. She also assists house wide operations by delivering the mail/interoffice communication envelopes three days a week. Bentley is also a great helper and always wags his tail with excitement when you say “Hi.” While volunteering, Bentley has been stepped on and run over by patients and staff so many times but always stays calm. All of the patients love him. Bentley has encouraged several patients to reach their therapy goals.
