Ranken Jordan recognized two volunteers for outstanding service at the Maryland Heights hospital’s annual Volunteer Appreciation Dinner, held April 15th. Hospital staff voted for Steve Cortopassi as Volunteer of the Year. Estella Beckman was honored with the Rookie Volunteer of the Year award.
Volunteer of the Year
Cortopassi has been volunteering at Ranken Jordan since 2004. His business experience, passion for children and natural curiosity are a perfect match for Ranken Jordan’s mission of helping medically complex children get better. Steve’s energy and enthusiasm Inspire many young patients as he assists with outdoor recreation trips and other activities. Cortopassi also serves in a leadership role as a member of Ranken Jordan’s Board of Directors.
Rookie Volunteer of the Year
Beckman helps the nursery staff at Ranken Jordan. Every Monday, Estella volunteers to rock babies. She also helps translate care instructions for Spanish-speaking families. Her soft, calming voice and her humility provide an ideal combination of comforts for sick or injured infants. Estella also helps the hospital transport team, carrying supplies, hauling diaper bags and pushing wheelchairs for patients.
Each year Ranken Jordan formally recognizes the hard work and dedication of hundreds of hospital volunteers. Between April 2010 and April 2011, volunteers donated an estimated 23,000 hours of time worth approximately $482,000 in service.
