Coachmen Car Club with patient EvieThe Saint Louis Coachmen Car Club received the fourth annual Mary Ranken Jordan Service-to-Children Award from Ranken Jordan, Wednesday, Oct. 13 at Norwood Hills Country Club.

After years of service to other organizations, the Coachmen began their charitable affiliation with Ranken Jordan in 2008. Through a series of car shows and fundraisers, the classic car enthusiasts have been very generous with financial contributions to the Maryland Heights hospital. The club knows their support goes directly to patient care and makes a difference.

"The St. Louis Coachmen are very sincere and motivated to help our hospital. We are very grateful for their devotion and commitment to the children," said Lauri Tanner, CEO of Ranken Jordan. Club spokesman Lou Puricelli deflected praise and, instead, chose to remind everyone about the children of Ranken Jordan. "The children we’ve met at Ranken Jordan have touched our lives. And we feel like our small contributions make a difference at Ranken Jordan," added Puricelli."We love old cars and we love these kids. It’s humbling to see how the young patients persevere despite tremendous odds." Elaine Hickerson, Director of Development for Ranken Jordan, is effusive in her praise for the members of the car club. "The Coachmen believe in our mission. They've embraced our kids, families and staff," replied Hickerson.

The St. Louis Coachmen Car Club is a social organization with more than 100 members. The group is passionate about the restoration of classic automobiles and members attend car shows throughout the region. They have won many display awards for their vehicles.

When multiple shows occur on the same day, the Coachmen try to choose and support events that support local charities.
