"Red Rocker" Sammy Hagar recently made a surprise gift of $40,000 through his Family Foundation pursuing his personal goal to reach out to children in critical need of health care. For Sammy, supporting Ranken Jordan's highly specialized mission is one way of accomplishing his goals. "There are individuals in every community who can afford to help others," said Hagar. " That is what I am trying to do. I am touched by Ranken Jordan's work."
St. Louis is a longtime favorite spot for Hagar because of KSHE Radio and St. Louis' musical community. He has already extended his generosity to underprivileged St. Louis children through his support of Blessings in a Backpack.
Sammy was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1997 and is now searching for ways to provide opportunities for children in need. "I've been very blessed in my life and feel it's important to help children," says Hagar. "I've always made music. Now it's time to make a difference."
