Ranken Jordan is a “good place to work,” according to HR Solutions, a Chicago consulting firm. 95 percent of employees at the Maryland Heights hospital offered that opinion in an employee survey conducted last winter. It was the second such survey taken in the last two years.

Employees responded to 140 items related to their employment, measuring their degree of satisfaction for each item. The results were compared to other healthcare facilities, among areas within the hospital and results from the prior survey.

The dimension of “Overall Job Satisfaction” resulted in an 89% favorable rating. This compares to an 86% prior rating and 79% normative rating from other Children’s Hospitals. This result is considered a “Best-in-Class” winner. In fact, Ranken Jordan’s result was the fifth highest score compared to all of HR Solutions’ clients throughout the country. Other top dimensions included Customer Service, also with an 89% approval rating and Strategy/Mission with an 88% rating.

Other items that scored very high included “The organization is committed to quality,” with a 96% and “The organization tries hard to improve the quality of care it offers,” which scored in the 95th percentile in approval rating.

The latest survey results were slightly higher than results from the first survey conducted two years ago. “The first survey inspired us to do more. We had some room for improvement, so we made some changes and the employees wholeheartedly embraced them,” said Lauri Tanner, President & CEO of Ranken Jordan. “Even now we’re still striving to do better. We really want to be the preferred employer for healthcare employees in the St. Louis area.”

Endorsed by the American Hospital Association, HR Solutions has more than 800 clients. Approximately half of those clients are in the healthcare field.
