This year the Kids' Walk underwent a few improvements. A new walk was created
for more serious walkers. The path traveled around the hospital campus and through the Pinehurst neighborhood. The original path around the Challenge Walk was designated for kids. The first lap was lead by motorcycle club, The Gunners, who rode on their motorcycles, and the Maryland Heights Police and Fire Departments in control cars and a fire truck.
Honoring men and women in service and those involved on 9/11, the Walk began with a short ceremony and renditions of our national anthem "The Star-Spangled Banner" and "America the Beautiful" sung by inpatient Cecilia
.
Despite a slight sprinkling rain briefly after lunch the Kids' Walk was a huge success with over 500 walkers and raising over $10,000. This is a new record for the Kids' Walk with 100 new walkers and raising nearly $8,000 more than the 2009 walk.
