The Pattonville School District recently honored two area businesses as its 2010 School-Business Partners of the Year during its annual District Appreciation Night.
Patty Gould, Pattonville director of school-business partnerships, presented the partnership awards to Casa Gallardo of Bridgeton and the Ranken Jordan Pediatric Specialty Hospital.
For several years, Ranken Jordan has allowed Pattonville students to job shadow and volunteer. Ranken Jordan representatives also come to Pattonville schools and offer students social skills and anger management seminars. Ranken Jordan is a pediatric specialty hospital located in the Pattonville School District. It is one of a few children’s hospitals in the country that provides rehabilitation and subacute medical treatment for seriously ill and injured children regardless of the family’s ability to pay.
Casa Gallardo of Bridgeton, manager Rosemarie Axelson and her staff have been supporters of Pattonville's academic and attendance programs for many years. In addition, the restaurant provides PTAs, PTOs, after-school clubs, and athletic and activity teams with Family Nights, during which 25 percent of the proceeds made during these events goes back to the Pattonville group hosting the event. Casa Gallardo’s program represents the largest donation given back to the district through a restaurant Family Night.
