Ranken Jordan – A Pediatric Specialty Hospital welcomes three physicians as consulting members to its accomplished medical team. Thomas Ferkol, M.D., and Katherine Rivera-Spoljaric, M.D., will provide pediatric pulmonology services for Ranken Jordan patients, while Jeffrey Leonard, M.D., will provide consulting services in the specialty area of pediatric neurosurgery.
“At Ranken Jordan, our patients are our highest priority, and we do everything possible to meet their rehabilitation needs,” Holekamp said. “These three outstanding physicians will expand the breadth of care that Ranken Jordan’s medical staff currently provides, and they will help us improve our services for patients with complex medical conditions who are transitioning between traditional hospital treatment and going home.”
Ferkol earned his medical degree from Ohio State University College of Medicine in 1985 and carried out his internship and residency at North Carolina Memorial Hospital. He completed his fellowship in pediatric pulmonology at Case Western Reserve University in 1992 and is board certified in pediatrics and pediatric pulmonology. Since completing his fellowship, Ferkol has worked at the Rainbow Babies & Children Hospital in Ohio, served as the division director of allergy and pulmonology at St. Louis Children’s Hospital, and has taught as an associate professor of pediatrics at Washington University.
Rivera-Spoljaric studied medicine at the Ponce School of Medicine in Puerto Rico, where she earned her degree in 2001. She carried out her internship and residency at Miami Children’s Hospital and completed her fellowship in 2007 at Washington University and St. Louis Children’s Hospital. Since 2007, Rivera-Spoljaric, who is board certified in pediatrics and pediatric pulmonology, has served in the allergy and pulmonology division at St. Louis Children’s Hospital while working as an instructor in pediatrics at Washington University.
Leonard, who is board certified in neurological surgery, earned his medical degree from the University of Washington School of Medicine in 1995. He completed his internship, residency and fellowship in 2003 at Washington University School of Medicine, and he has served Washington University and St. Louis Children’s Hospital in the department of neurology for the past five years. Leonard’s affiliations include St. Louis Children’s Hospital, Shriner’s Hospital for Crippled Children and Barnes Jewish Hospital.
